Hasn’t it been 10,000 years since the last time I wrote
a post on kamiyajani.com? Feels awesome to be back . I need a subject strong
enough to prompt me to write.
We got a new car - Xylo, a couple of days back. It’ exciting to have a new car but
that’s not going be the topic of discussion. This evening, my brother called
out to me to check out the new music system, the new TV screen and the new
number plate that he has embellished the car with.
The last time I saw him like this when
he was blessed with a new born baby and before that, it was the new property that
he bought. Before that, it was his new office, just before that it was the
entry of a new person in his life, his wife. In all these, there is only one
thing in common – NEW! Every time he has something new in his life, I see that
excitement in him. I looked around only to find out if he was the only one. But
no, the world is no different than him.
New things always bring great pleasure to our lives. Be it a new job, new car,
new house or a new friend. You begin to forget all the old things, which once
gave you the same pleasure as new ones. After sometime, you again forget these
new ones as ignored ones, like his old car. He didn’t bother to look there but
does that mean he has changed his loyalties? Just to check that, I said, I will
take your old car, you take the new one. He said yes because he can’t say no.
But he was reluctant. He didn’t want to let go off his possession. I would have done the same.
But eventually, we mostly let go off them but it pinches to see our old thing
to be a new obsession for someone else. Like my old Santro - MH O4 – BD – 5666.
If you see her anywhere, give her my love.
New things bring great pleasure and excitement but we still feel possessive for the old ones. This
is not just for cars but even for people... And I wonder why...
