My wish is his command!
clock December 31, 2008 10:15 by author kamiya

He came and whispered in my ears, “Baby, this will be the most wonderful year of your life.” As he started walking away from me, I stood there and wished for him to turn back. And he did. I smiled at him and I made another wish. He smiled back and said ‘Granted’

He says that for everything I wish! I could be joking. I could be angry. I could be happy. I could be sad. He doesn’t know all that, he only knows that my wish is his command.

Since he was giving away all my wishes, I asked for another one! The world wants to know the secret to happiness. If you let me know the secret, I could pass it on to the world.

He said, 'Give'

I asked, ‘What?’

Give yourself away… for free’

To be happy, be full of yourself. Love yourself. Care for yourself so much so that it overflows and then you have excess of it. Rather than letting it go waste – GIVE.

Give praises, Give smiles, Give love, Give warmth, Give hugs, Give ideas, Give a helping hand.

You can only give if you have it first. When you start giving, you discover all that’s hidden in you. Giving will not make you poorer, it makes you richer. When you give ‘yourself’, you have no expectations because few things can never be paid back.

How about having this as your resolution? Giving is not that tough. The day you start doing that, you will realize how simple it is and its power.

Also, be careful what you ask for. Because your wish is His command. Wish for only good things in life and they will come true.

KayJay the DeeJay!
clock December 24, 2008 09:43 by author kamiya
The season is here and the feeling is back! I had been to a spinning studio recently for a shoot and I almost got a crush on the instructor/director of the studio. Not only because he was good looking, well-built and funny but also because of the music he was playing!

So, it’s 'KJ the DJ' feeling that is back ;-) But sadly this DeeJay resolution is forgotten by 10th of Jan every year but this year I will try my best to make it different.

Last year, I learnt all these techniques on Mismeister and Virtual DJ. Though this year I want some real stuff.

DJ mixer, DJ turntable, DJ speakers
DJ lighting, DJ effects, DJ gear, DJ cases, DJ racks and DJ tracks!
Everything DJ!
Coz after all its KJ the DJ!

So, this is added to my New Year Resolution list :-) Besides this, to join a spinning class will be a great idea.

An intense aerobic exercise on stationary bikes, disco lights and music! Spinning may be the best way to sweat it out. With no complicated moves to learn, its music that begs your legs to pedal on the beat!
And even better if the instructor is good looking and plays good music ;-)

I IZ IN UR DECKZ… MIXIN UR TRACKS!

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi!
clock December 17, 2008 14:20 by author kamiya
They say - I need a smoke!
Others say - I need a drink!
I say - I need a movie!

And this one served the purpose. :-)

Soda glasses, loose shirt, ill-fitted pants and sport shoes. Whoa! Shahrukh has never looked better than this. And I loved him in this film more than any other. He stole my heart. Not the wannabe Shahrukh, the simple one!

There were bits when I felt that the movie is long but I would say the first and last half and hour of the movie is the best.

An average looking man gets married a beautiful girl. You will ask why? Arrey, Rab ne bana di Jodi yaar. And then how he does everything to win her heart. And ultimately he does.

Predictable, isn’t it? But this movie is a joy only because of Shahrukh. I wasn’t a great Shahrukh fan but now I am. I loved it. I would crack up everytime he would say - 'Punjab Power: Lighting up your house' He is working for a company called Punjab Power.

He said in one of his interviews, “Those who understand love, will like this movie. Those who don’t, won’t!” Well for me, I love the idea of being in love than love itself.

A special mention: We all know about the dance competition that happens in the film. But there was another competition between duo – pani puri one. Shahrukh wins the battle. He eats more pani-puri than Anushka. But If I was his competitor, I swear I would have won. Trust me!

(Actually, I chose the wrong time to write this post. I am watching Salaam Namaste at the moment and I love that film equally)

Oright then, Kabhi alvida na kehna. Always say... Hum hain rahi pyaar ke, phir milenge... chalte chalte ;-)

Kochi Kochi RakMaa!
clock December 14, 2008 03:15 by author kamiya
The competition has never been closer; the route has never been longer and the boats have never been faster. Such was the sight at the Volvo Ocean Race, India stop-over at Kochi. All cute phirangs (sailors) stopped by for 10 days at Kerala. I went to meet them and also to see the flag off of the leg 3 from Kochi to Sentosa, Singapore.

Stay: If I talk about the phirangs, I will have to start another blog. So, let me talk about the beautiful place instead –
Kerela. To be precise, beauty was at the Hotel Le Meridien at Kundannur Jn, Maradu in Kochi.  Serene, peaceful, composed. I did not feel the need to explore much of the other places. I was so content. We had to take a boat to get to the hotel. Cool, innit? And the rooms, the prettiest. The sight from the rooms blows your mind. The hospitality makes you warm.

People: They are friendly and helpful though communication is a bit of a problem. Most of the times, you are confused. Should I speak Hindi or English? Generally, English works. They will all smile as you walk by. They
would say hi, hello, where from? Would offer if they can take my picture?  Like I belong to a different specie who has accidently landed up in their land.

Food: The lunches and dinners for the first two days were with the phirangs so yes, it was a disappointing Angrezi meal. But last night’s dinner made up for it. From Curd-Rice to Fish Curry and Rice, the authentic keralite food on display was mouth watering and irresistible.

Cafe: Kashi Art Cafe was the only cafe I could go to. The most interesting thing about this place was its mirror placed above the wash basin. I couldn’t figure out at once but if you see it closely, it is made of a WC. Haha! But a nice place to chill out!

Beaches:
The water is BLUE! I had never seen blue water in India before this. Pretty!

It was a short trip but a lovely one. I have to go there again!

Firewalking: Go beyond your limits!
clock December 3, 2008 14:14 by author kamiya

A look at my blog makes me wonder that you must be wondering that this woman only wonders about movies! Wonderful but that's not true. My job extracts a lot more than just watching movies. Not that I mind it :P

Anyway, that includes walking on fire & glass, bending steel bars, breaking a wooden board. Supercool no?

Nah, I haven't joined any self-defense class yet. I have mastered that art already ;-) It's a corporate training session by Priya Kumar. Now why would employees do all these stunts?

To release mental stress, unblock constricted energy, create greater sensitivity, enhance your relationships and add to your health.

Breaking the board with focus, bending the steel bar with commitment and walking on the fire with confidence. I could do all the tasks except breaking the board. Does that say something? Yes, just that I need to work out :P Also, the focus is missing ;-)

Of all, I enjoyed firewalking the most. You must be wondering how can someone walk on the fire and come out unhurt?

Here it goes: "Fire is a tool of transformation. It is an element of prayer. Firewalking converts your fears into powers.
When someone approaches a task, any task with full attention, focus and intention, they emerge bigger than that task or situation. But if they are not paying attention or are not focussed or approach life unintentionally then that is when accidents happen. Intention is a very powerful tool in creation," Says Corporate Trainer Priya Kumar.

And all this is to go beyond your limits and overcome your FEARS. If you can walk on fire, there is practically nothing which you cannot do!

Watch this video till the end.

FYI: Love is a sign of creation and fear is a sign of destruction. When the person is in love, he is happy, positive and always smiling. At the same time, its fear that leads to all negativities. Fall in love and fall out of fears. Spread positive vibes and shun the negative ones!

Allow yourself to be human!
clock December 1, 2008 15:18 by author kamiya

I hate sympathies as much as you do. I do not like people coming up to me and consoling. What has happened was bound to happen don’t rub it in by talking more about it.

This is no sympathy but I just want to share what I learnt. Over the weekend, I met a couple of people who were rescued from The Taj and Oberoi Trident. Trembling feet, sweaty palms, uneasiness, it was all evident. I couldn't help but meet psychologists Seema Hingoranny and Varkha Chulani soon after. The trauma seems to have taken over the city. Not only those who have gone through the pain and rescued or those who lost their loved ones but also who have been watching it on television have been affected. The city was surrounded is by negative vibes.

For those, who experienced themselves, don’t be shattered by the same repetitive thoughts of blood and dead bodies. Loss of sleep and appetite may come along. There will be a sudden bounce of violence. Deep fear has set into people’s mind.  Even a slightest noise will make you jump. You may feel disconnected with the real world.

Understand that you are not alone. There are a lot of people with you. If you want to break down or cry, do that. Men can also cry. Crying is not a weak emotion, it is a natural emotion.

Many of us will give them idiotic terms that ‘move on’ and ‘be strong’. Allow them to be humans. Let them go through disbelief to depression, fear, anger and relief that I am alive.

For those, who lost their near and dear ones, I know the pain goes beyond words.

The more you allow yourselves to be in that zone to, so to speak, will be better for you. ‘Move on’ is such a cliché and an insensitive term. You need tolerance and patience. Face it. Do not fight with your emotions.

If you are a heart patient or going through chronic depression, minimize your exposure to television.

I know that what has happened is terribly tragic but these kinds of tragedies give us a wake-up call from deep slumber.  Life was becoming superficial and we were beginning to get complacent. We should reconsider the way we have been thinking not by lighting candles or wearing a black and white t-shirt.

Admit it or not, none of us can really do anything about the terror attacks. As I write this, or as you light a candle, another terror attack must be being planned for some other country.  Sadly, I do not even blame the politicians for it.

Life is uncertain. And the guarantee that life has to be perfect seems fading. Everything can change in a millisecond. Accept the uncertainty of life. Put aside pettiness, minimize grudges, value your life and make a difference to yourself, friends and society at large.

Post traumatic stress is very normal and you WILL come out of it. Intense counselling and medication helps.

Special thanks to psychologist Seema Hingorrany and Varkha Chulani

Aaoji Khaoji – Lucky superchor hai!
clock November 30, 2008 14:36 by author kamiya

If you are a Sardar with a good Surdy sense of humour, bindaas attitude, authentic Sardar accent and under 18 years old, please contact me. Under 18 because I generally like Sardars only till that age. I am not being racist. Lot of my friends are Sikh and I love them all. Just that I love Sardar kids more than Sardars themselves :-)

This long story because the first half n hour of the movie was about this under-18-year-old sardar, whose name is Lucky. He always wants things to go his way, no matter what. His cool attitude, accent and acting stole my heart.

The story did not change when he grew up. The older cut-surd Abhay Deol too is just too charming. He is a thief and not a cool thief like Hrithik Roshan from Dhoom but a cheap thief who doesn’t even leave show-peices or chindi photo frames. ;-)

I wouldn’t say the movie made me laugh my guts out but it did bring a smile to my face. I did sense a bit of pain in my jaws by the
end of it. Reason could be Abhay Deol. There is something in him which the other Deol brothers don’t have. It’s got no story line, just a fun-no-brainer-flick with a retro feel.

I know a lot of you need a break from the news channels flashing breaking news after every five minutes. I am not saying forget the incident but be brave, smile and fight. There is nothing that can stop you from going to a mall or a multiplex. This is your country, not anyone else’s!

And BTW, Aaoji Khaoji was the restaurant's name started by Lucky Singh! If I ever open a restaurant, you know what it will be called :-)

Oye Lucky Lucky Oye! Oyeeeeeee Lucky!

A wednesday - For everyone who will be dead, sooner or later!
clock November 27, 2008 14:00 by author kamiya

If you’d ask me, which was your favourite movie in the year 2008? My instant reply would be - A WEDNESDAY!

It’s got no bhashan, no preaching! It’s a mirror of our condition and sadly, nothing can be done. I don’t remember a minute I was distracted. I have never been so much into in a film, or anything else, perhaps!

Naseerudin Shah plans a blast in Mumbai and very bravely he tells the policemen about it. Inspite of them knowing about it, the helplessness is evident. Protecting people is a priority and at the same time, they have to placate the terrorist to stop them from firing/blast and find out the spots.

Crux being, today it is so simple to plan a blast. Naseerudin was no terrorist. He was a common man. If he can do it, if he can plant a bomb in a POLICE STATION, think about the guys who are trained for 20 years just to do this.

It was mind boggling. It had the effect on me for a week. Sadly, yesterday was a wednesday too and the attack continues even today.
And today, again as I see the dead count going up, it doesn’t make me sad. It makes me angry.

Angry because I am not doing anything to make it better. Angry because I do not have the guts to go up to them and shoot them all dead. Angry because they will do this until they are dead! Angry because I will have to wait till I am dead!

A Wednesday – A must watch for each Indian or perhaps everyone who will be dead, sooner or later!

But if you want to do something about it before you or your loved ones die, you can do something about it. Let’s start right away.

The Sweet Escape!
clock November 21, 2008 08:07 by author kamiya
Me and my flirting with the mamu(s), I mean traffic hawaldars go a long way. Not that I enjoy doing that, but sometimes you just do not have a choice J

I try to avoid them as much as possible. Waste of time. I do not want another message from my boss – ‘It’s almost one. When will you come?’ LOL. Happens, Life.

And to save time, I have started using earphones, I mean, obviously for this, I cannot stop talking on the phone while driving.

This morning I was caught again. I was laughing aloud talking to a dear friend. The hawaldar, at the signal, was wondering ‘Why is she laughing? She is alone in the car.’

He came closer to see what I am upto and saw the earphones plugged on!

‘Madam, gaadi side mein lagao’

And I thought earphones were allowed but nope! It came to my knowledge that your phone should be switched off while you are driving. But you can always listen to music on the phone, can’t you?

Tin tin ti-din

‘Lekin aap toh zor zor ka has rahe the’

‘Arrey voh radio jockey ne kya mast joke crack kiya. Aap Mirchi murga/ shendi/ sood jokes sunte ho?’

‘Nahi madam. Abhi time kidhar milta hai. Acha aap radio sun rahe the kya. Chalo koi baat nahi.’

There’s always a way out. Always.
And I am always lucky to have escaped with no damage done! :-)

Dostana - Not about friendship!
clock November 16, 2008 09:18 by author kamiya

And I thought it was a woman's business to look HOT. I was so wrong. John Abraham has crossed all the limits - He looked HOT! Like siiiiiizzzzzzzling HAWT.

Okay, attention! Lets talk about the movie. Dostana was exactly what I thought it to be. And even then, I wasn’t bored. Though, there were bits when I felt, oh its just about to get over but nope.. it went on. So yes, it was slightly long.

It was funny. Abhishek can act really well as a gay. But John.. He is just too manly to be a gay! As titled, the movie doesn't talk about friendship, it is all about LOVE. Everyone in love with Piggy chops!

Maa da laadla bigad gaya gets the award for the best song.

You must be wondering why I haven't mentioned about the babe - Priyanka Chopra. Well, to confess, jealous!

Arrey, she gets to go for all those fancy dates and that too with THREE different men ;-) What luck! And why not, she is Sindhi in the movie and looks nice :)

Funniest scene – when Abhishek’s mother gets to know about his son’s sexual preference. Followed by a couple of scenes.

Hot bods, good locations, little funny, not too senti, good gay jokes. Dostana is all about that. Worth a watch once. Recommended.

Go ahead and enjoy.

Be Happy and Gay!
