Pedalling away to glory...
Posted: April 21, 2012 05:35 by kamiya

Sometimes I wonder what is it that gives me more pleasure – Is it cycling or listening to music or the combination of the two?

As fresh air caresses my face and my long locks, I feel a little a more alive every time pedal. Cycling is like breathing slowly. It is like being with yourself and meditating. Cycling is like being in the lap of nature and controlling the pace of your life.

Cycling is also like going for a long walk with a loved one. It is like having a conversation with the non-existent. Cycling is like being in the air and flying and it is also like being on the floor and rolling with joy!

Great things about cycling:

 - Stress buster
 - Eco-friendly
 -  Low maintenance
 - A great friend
  - Fitness Equipment

Head to Della for an Adventurous Weekend!
Posted: January 7, 2012 07:23 by kamiya
Open doors to adventure, this holiday season. One such option outside Mumbai is Della Adventure Park! Over 80 exciting activities from flying in the air to tumbling down the hill to shooting like a rocket. Located a little before Lonavala, Della offers thrilling adventure sports, mini golf course, horse riding, net cricket, spa or even taking a dog for a walk.

I saw a lot of people screaming with joy, fear, anxiety and it was time to get a first hand experience. First up, I tried flying fox. Intimidating at the start but within seconds I started enjoying and didn't want it to end. Although, it is said to be India's longest permanent zip line, it felt too short!

It was then time to roll in a big zorb ball! With a natural turf incline and the innumerous bumps on the way, the journey felt way too long as I tumbled down the hill. The dirt track was next on my list and I couldn't wait to get geared. It was fun but not as exciting as the rocket ejector. It takes you four and a half floors above the ground and boom, you come down.

The best part perhaps is that fact that you can try out these adventure sports even after the sun sets. At the end of the day, after those hectic activities, a luxurious camp tent with a mountain view awaits you. Each 400sq ft tent is equipped with a tiny Jacuzzi, a plasma TV, a mini-bar sized fridge and Wi-Fi. A 90 minute drive from Mumbai, and a 60 minute one from Pune,
it's certainly an option for the different

Love My Early Morning Drive
Posted: August 23, 2011 02:32 by kamiya

Waking up early in the morning to go to work can be quite a bitch. And by early morning, I mean, 4:40 am. Even if you manage to take a catnap for 10 more minutes, life still doesn’t seem to be a better place. After all, in your mind you are afraid that when you open your eyes next, it could be 11:15 am with 27 missed calls on your phone leaving you jobless till you find another one!

And the outcome is that you end up waking yourself up even before the snooze alarm! These 15 minutes are the most difficult part of my day but once I am up and about, I love every bit of it!

THE FACT:

 - That I wake up even before the sun does
 - That I can drive at 120 km/hr on Mumbai roads
 - That I reach office in 20 minutes
 - That I can play music at a high volume with windows rolled down
 - That the breeze is fresh, pollution free and kisses my skin before anyone else’s
 - That I make an appearance on TV, first thing in the morning
 - That I eat a healthy fruit salad every morning
 - That there is no boss to keep an eye on me
 - That I can blog while I am at work ;)
 - That I can go home and take an afternoon nap
 - That I can go cycling in the evening
 - That I can cook scrumptious dinner for family
 - That I can watch a movie everynight

I forget about those fifteen minutes in five minutes but it feels good to use my day to the max. Now, you don’t have to feel too bad about your life. I know you spend two hours in traffic and eight hours at work leaving no time for yourself. Well, its all about karma, my friend ;)

On The Cover Page!
Posted: November 9, 2010 05:48 by kamiya

Alas, the hard work pays off with some publicity. Its wonderful how each of my wish (or call it imagination) comes true. Being on a cover page of a magazine is something I always dreamt of and there you go! Last year, around the same time, I did a photo shoot with Marie Claire and this time, it was the magazine Sindhian featuring three Sindhi News Anchors! ;)

Letter To My Boss
Posted: November 8, 2010 21:42 by kamiya

To know if your boss is a good boss is to see how he responds to mistakes. My boss, now an ex-boss surprised me at every mistake I made at work. He did that by not saying anything to me and waited till I realize it by myself.

When I was in class five, I had failed in one subject. It was only on that day that I promised myself to excel in studies to not to face the embarrassment ever again. I took help from a tuition teacher living close by and her mentoring made me stand first in the class, next year. That’s when I realized how important is it, firstly, to fail and secondly to find the right teacher.

After having worked for 4-5 years, I finally saw my right teacher in Mr Ashu Dutt. I loved the language he spoke, the attitude he carried and the freedom he enjoyed.

Its rare to find a good boss and even more rare you get to work with them. I got lucky only for a few months and I had to write this letter to him the day I got to know he has quit.

Dear Sir,

Now that its confirmed that we will not be having the 7’o clock meeting any more, I wish we could have one last meeting at 7 am where I could just THANK YOU for being such a great human being and an awesome boss. My respect for you goes beyond words.

If I am allowed to say this, I am extremely upset and sad about the fact that you won’t be associated with the same organization as mine. And I wish I could change that. Your mentoring has meant so much to me.

Besides your knowledge in business news & world economics, I look upto you for being a great human being.

If I can put in words, I can only end this by saying THANK YOU for forgiving my on-air errors, spelling mistakes in graphics, reaching late to work and most of all, for being so generous with giving me an opportunity to be on the same platform as yours. A heart felt thank you to you :-)

Best of luck for all your future endeavours, sir. Surely, there are better things waiting for you. As I have learnt from you, I will stand by my principles and not succumb to any professional pressure. After all, what's the worse that can happen?

Hope to stay in touch.

Good luck & warm regards.
Ms Jani

Dear Ms Jani:

In the course of a public life as has been mine you receive thousands of mails. Most you discard, some you pause to read, a few touch your heart, a couple make you choke up on emotions and one or two (and I mean  one or two in a lifetime) well up your eyes.

Your mail is in the league of the "one or two in a lifetime". I know you wrote from your heart and it felt like it.

In the course of my lifetime, I have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of young people. And then one stands out. You know they are destined to succeed. You just feel lucky that you had the opportunity to mentor them. You Ms Jani are one of those standouts.

God bless you. May success find its natural home in you.

Warm regards.
Ashu Dutt

The Cinderella Moment!
Posted: January 23, 2010 05:46 by kamiya

Magazines fascinate me. Love the write-ups, the glossy look, full page photographs and the make-overs. Aah, how I wish I was a celebrity!

But don’t be surprised to know that when you really desire for something, the entire universe conspires to realize your wish. No wonder then, Magazine Marie Claire decided to feature me for a ‘Pretty Me’ contest organized by the cosmetic & fragrance brand Elizabeth Arden. Having sent my pictures a month ago, out of nowhere, I get a call from a sweet Parsi girl Sanaya saying she wants to meet me. And the deal was cracked.

A week later, I had a photoshoot at a studio at Grant Road in Mumbai. Now, I am quite used to the video camera and I know what it takes to be able to convince the viewers but for a still camera, well, you just gotta smile!

WHEN IT RAINS...
Posted: July 3, 2009 16:32 by kamiya

I look outside the window...
I don’t like staying indoor...

I look at the droplets falling down...
I want to see the floor getting drowned...

I look at people going helter-skelter...
While the hawkers are searching for a blue shelter...

I look at kids wearing a rain gear...
And the bikers coming down to second gear...

I look at couples holding hands...
and their feet sinking in the sands...

I look at youngsters munching on wada pav...
That tastes yummier in the rains, I wonder how!

I look at people blocking each other’s way...
and I am trying to pull my umbrella that’s flying away...

Finally, I stop looking
and I start feeling...

Feeling the droplets hitting my face
And smiling back at the Rain Gods for their Grace!

Enjoy the season and do not crib
Even if you fall in the pit!

Keep Smiling and Stay Stylish! ;-)

GUESS WAT-CH!?!
Posted: July 3, 2009 14:36 by kamiya

Rarely do I plan things in life but when I do, I WANT it. I saw a lady wearing a big square shaped dial watch and I was so tempted to go and ask her – Which watch is that? She said, it’s Guess!

I made up my mind - I want that watch! I hunted for that watch for two weeks but I came out dissappointed from each of their store. But the last Guess store I visited, I found this watch.

Swarovski embedded dial, rectangular shaped dial and the metal strap, it was love at first sight! Comes in the evening wear category, can’t wear it to work every day but I love every occasion I get to wear this!
