Bali: a magnet at its very heart!
Posted: March 13, 2009 00:48 by kamiya
I am at a place which is far from theworld I know and I still feel so close to the place I belong to. I will callthis place – Heaven. It’s an island where the wind of serenity blows throughgently. Salemat Datang to Bali!
Bali is a land that seems to have a magnet at its very heart. It is a feelingthat is difficult to understand unless experienced but once visited you are surelycompelled to come back and you may even want to stay forever, such is its pull.
Call it the smiling faces or warmth in the wind, besides pulling you, the placegrips you tight. I am living at Club Med, Nusa Dua and life is seriously aholiday here. Not just for me, but even for the staff here. They work all dayand in the night, they let their hair down and party with the guests as theyentertain them.
Water sports, cycling, crazy signs, river rafting, beaches, swimming pool, flying trapeze, well-designed open bar – I can’t stop but try each of these. Idon’t want to go back home and say ‘I wish I would have done that!’
Let me describe what I can see at the moment as I type this blog – A beautifulpoolside, splashes of water on the floor, green garden, blue beach, sound ofwaves and wind chimes, cute phirangi kids wearing a bath rope. One of thempeeping into my laptop and smiling at me, others enjoying their drink.
How much ever hard I try, I will fail if I put my feelings in words. I amloving each and every moment and its becoming difficult to let go off thismoment. This has been one of my best trips in life for more reason than one. ;-)
And I feel like singing only one song -
Mujhe kya gum tera ristha Gagan ki basuri se hai Pawan ki guftagu se hai Suraj ki roshani se hai
Catch my stories on Bali food, Shopping in Bali, Places to visit, adventure sports to try in Bali (must-watch)and more on UTVi in the coming week. Adios! :)

Kamiya Meets John!
Posted: March 2, 2009 13:10 by kamiya
Ladies and gentlemen... Boys and Girls... Hold yourbreath! Because that’s what I did, when I saw him.
I was told to slyly rush into John’s van and interview him without letting anyother news channel know that we got an exclusive. My self-confessed love forJohn isn’t a secret anymore. I enter in his van only to see there are five to sixmore people already squeezed in. Which means no words of flirting!
He tells me where to sit while I interview and I agree. Without wasting anytime, I start off and paying least attention to his answers, I continue with mylist of questions. Trying hard not to divert my mind and be lost in his cutesmile or dimples.
As we end the interview and bid a goodbye to him, my sweet cameraman allows meto spend some more time with John as he needs to shoot a wide angle of thefirst link. Now will I remember what I uttered just after 2 minutes of seeingJohn. And the sweetheart that he is, John helped me with what I said in thebeginning and what more can I add! Cuteness.
As I say bye to him once again, I thought maybe I can ask him a couple offitness questions and he said oh ofcourse, you can. And there I go. I wasn’tsure if he would entertain me more, so after the fitness interview, we said ourgood-byes and left with a lovely memory!
Watch the interview:
I Love: The way he looks at me! : When he says, 'Oh you saw that episode!'PS: Fitness questions were not a part of this interview.

Why I love birthdays!
Posted: February 22, 2009 13:00 by kamiya
As I am getting older, birthday gifts are getting bigger and better! And you
ask me, why I love birthdays :)
Here’s a quick snapshot of what my friends showered me with, this year:
1. Priyanka Jethwani
Top which screams – DRAMA QUEEN. If you know me, you know why she chose that
tee for me ;-)
2. Dimple Jhangiani
Top which says – guess, you can read it in the picture!
3. Sangeeta Krishnan
Top - I am not playing hard 2 get... you are not trying hard enough ;-)
4. Meghna Gujral
I did not leave her with an option. My tennis partner, Meghna, I call her Rinni,
asked me what I want. The first thing that came on my mind was – a tennis
racket! ;-)
5. Kanishka Chetwani
She is really weally smart. She got me all that she needs for herself and she
can very conveniently borrow it from me anytime! That way she doesn’t have to
buy anything for herself and also not spend anything extra on me. That’s how
sisters are I tell you! ;-)
Cosmetics (All these years, been using her make-up products), hair brush (I don’t
brush my hair), Curlers (Now, do I really need to curl my hair?), Clutch (ok,
that’s useful for both of us) and kajal (this one, I demanded!)
6. Sumisha, Nidhi, Pooja
Besides a wonderful surprise early morning, they surprised me even
more by uploading those funny surprise pictures on facebook! They got me
the blue kajal pencil I was looking for, a sweet purse, junk jewellery and a
delicious cake.
7. Rahul Kundanani
This kanjoos friend of mine actually got a gold pendant for me! I still can’t
digest. I guess, he stole it from somewhere. Kidding ;-) It’s a sweet dolphin
pendant. I am a Piscean. Well thought!
8. Amit Pareek
Generosity at its best! If I start writing what all he got for me, you will get
bored reading and I will be tired writing.. haha...
Jewellery, top, paper bag with KJ ROCKS written on it, KJ ROCKS cup, bouquet...!
9. Yash
A chic David Off purse. Beige and pink in colour.. Will go with most of my
clothes :)
So, now you know, why I love birthdays! Thank you my lovely friends for all the lovely gifts. Muaaaah!

Vaheguru Vaheguru...
Posted: February 21, 2009 13:05 by kamiya
I always write about things I feel strongly for. Be it an emotion or an
experience. And this one is a combination of the two.
A sound that’s pleasing to ears
A place that’s calming to mind
A view that’s soothing to eyes...
It’s difficult to find a place that allows you to be with yourself. The air
around only transmits positivity and smiles. I found one such place and I am
totally addicted to it.
The sound goes as ‘Vaheguru... Vaheguru... Vaheguru... Vaheguru....’
The place is called ‘Gurudwara’, said to be the house of the Guru or doorway
into a guru's house.
The view is of 20 odd people with their eyes
closed and chanting vaheguru vaheguru.... and
the lights are dim.
And the experience is called ‘Simran’
I am not someone who visits a temple or any other holy place everyday but
whenever I’m home, this particular Gurudwara (close to home) invites me at 9 pm. Its
soothing. It touches my heart. It makes me feel happy. It makes me feel complete.
To all my loved ones and the others, I want you to experience this atleast once
in your lifetime. Perhaps this happens in all the Gurudwaras. Though, let me
know if you want to join me ;-)
Along with feeling close to God, you also feel close to yourself.

My New Found Love!
Posted: February 8, 2009 04:00 by kamiya
I find joy in every little thing I do. My new found love is Lawn Tennis. I
will go seven seas across to go and play this game though luckily it is only
three signals away from home.
After a tiring day and only five hours of sleep, I still wake up smiling with
the thought of feeling like Sania Mirza every morning :-) Have learnt forehand,
backhand, volley, ralley, smash and even how to serve! Like I said, it’s a new
found love and my love is reciprocating too. It can't get BETTER than
this.
Words are never enough, unless they are backed by actions that match what is
being said. The game doesn't anything but it is quite inviting. I take that
as a good sign ;-) I find joy in every little thing, I told you.
Love doesn't necessarily have to be with a person. It can be with nature, pets,
babies, dancing, sports anything. But it is important to be in love. Go ahead
and find your love!

Raaz - The wanna-be mystery continues
Posted: January 26, 2009 14:57 by kamiya
The guy (don’t know his name) sitting next to me loved the film. He thoroughly
enjoyed it because after every scary scene he would turn to me to see my
reaction and crack up laughing.
And me, I would promise myself not to entertain him further but couldn’t help. I
love watching horror movies. I just enjoy the thrill. I just love preparing
myself not to be scared or yell out and end up doing the same. Raaz isn’t so
scary but there were few scenes when I jumped.
The storyline is weak but the journey isn’t so bad. Builds up the suspense
pretty well though the climax is disappointing. Kangana Ranaut is the New
Urmila Matonkar. She is best fit for such whacky roles. I found Shekhar Suman’s
son pretty average but he can act decently well. And Emraan Hashmi, I love him for
his songs, though the kajal which he must have borrowed from his wife, I think
he should just return it to her. Doesn't suit him.
For those who love scary movies just watch it to enjoy the thrill. I give it
2.5 stars on 5.

Slumdog Millionaire: It is written!
Posted: January 11, 2009 14:52 by kamiya
I knew it is about Kaun Banega Crorepati -in this film - Who wants to be a Millionaire and that’s the only information I had. But this Slumdog Millionaire had so much more than just that.
To your surprise, it’s gotta cute love story. Ten year old street child falling in love with another.. sweet, innit?
So how each question is related to this kid’s life who is born and brought up on the streets to India? Danny Boyle has done a great job and I am glad that they decided to release it in India as well. Though I felt the beginning was slow and I had to kind of force myself to be more involved in the film but as it caught pace, it caught all my attention.
Jamal Malik, all three kids who played growing up years of this character were totally interesting and Dev Patel’s straight forward dialogue delivery was convincing. Unfortunately enough, I am upset about the fact the way India is depicted. They have shown that only dirt and filth happens in India. May be they had do this to prove - why beggars are beggars! But even then, I am not too appreciative of that.
Though it is very well written and filmed. I am not convinced how he got the last two answers right for which the script-writer chose destiny as an excuse and ended it by the tagline – IT IS WRITTEN! Yes sir, well-written.
Lets see if the slumdog is able to impress his true origin – India. Slumdog Crorepati release on 23rd January. Don’t Miss it.
I give it a 3.5 stars on 5.

Letting go….
Posted: January 10, 2009 06:16 by kamiya
'Learn to let go.'
I was amazed by her observation - how did she know about this ordeal of mine.
"Those old clothes, those old smses, those old files... They tell me enough. Let them go....You are not creating space for newer things in life."
Letting go is one of the most difficult thing for most of us. Just the thought of not having "that" as a part of your life anymore, is a heavy feeling…

To forgive and forget is not as easy as it is to type or say.
“But you should just set yourself free and LET GO. Because if you don't, you will wake up every morning hating him or her a little more… You will never be able to live it down. It will fester inside you like a silent predatory illness and ultimately bring everything down.
When you let go with grace and allow the person or thing their freedom towards their journey, you will never lose them, they will always visit you back. It is when you want to own another's time and space that you restrict them enough to move away and never return.
Letting go is a virtue of allowing.... allowing others a right to their own journey, freedom and learning.
And the tragedy is when you forgive someone in actual terms, when you forgive because you want to and because you have no insecurities or helplessness, that's when you realize that it doesn't matter. And then you also realize that you DON'T love anymore!”

My wish is his command!
Posted: December 31, 2008 10:15 by kamiya
He came and whispered in my ears, “Baby, this will be the most wonderful year of your life.” As he started walking away from me, I stood there and wished for him to turn back. And he did. I smiled at him and I made another wish. He smiled back and said ‘Granted’
He says that for everything I wish! I could be joking. I could be angry. I could be happy. I could be sad. He doesn’t know all that, he only knows that my wish is his command.
Since he was giving away all my wishes, I asked for another one! The world wants to know the secret to happiness. If you let me know the secret, I could pass it on to the world.
He said, 'Give'
I asked, ‘What?’
‘Give yourself away… for free’
To be happy, be full of yourself. Love yourself. Care for yourself so much so that it overflows and then you have excess of it. Rather than letting it go waste – GIVE.
Give praises, Give smiles, Give love, Give warmth, Give hugs, Give ideas, Give a helping hand.
You can only give if you have it first. When you start giving, you discover all that’s hidden in you. Giving will not make you poorer, it makes you richer. When you give ‘yourself’, you have no expectations because few things can never be paid back.
How about having this as your resolution? Giving is not that tough. The day you start doing that, you will realize how simple it is and its power.
Also, be careful what you ask for. Because your wish is His command. Wish for only good things in life and they will come true.

KayJay the DeeJay!
Posted: December 24, 2008 09:43 by kamiya
The season is here and the feeling is back! I had been to a spinning studio recently for a shoot and I almost got a crush on the instructor/director of the studio. Not only because he was good looking, well-built and funny but also because of the music he was playing!
So, it’s 'KJ the DJ' feeling that is back ;-) But sadly this DeeJay resolution is forgotten by 10th of Jan every year but this year I will try my best to make it different.
Last year, I learnt all these techniques on Mismeister and Virtual DJ. Though this year I want some real stuff.
DJ mixer, DJ turntable, DJ speakers
DJ lighting, DJ effects, DJ gear, DJ cases, DJ racks and DJ tracks!
Everything DJ!
Coz after all its KJ the DJ!
So, this is added to my New Year Resolution list :-) Besides this, to join a spinning class will be a great idea.
An intense aerobic exercise on stationary bikes, disco lights and music! Spinning may be the best way to sweat it out. With no complicated moves to learn, its music that begs your legs to pedal on the beat!
And even better if the instructor is good looking and plays good music ;-)
I IZ IN UR DECKZ… MIXIN UR TRACKS!
