The Cinderella Moment!
Posted: January 23, 2010 05:46 by kamiya

Magazines fascinate me. Love the write-ups, the glossy look, full page photographs and the make-overs. Aah, how I wish I was a celebrity!

But don’t be surprised to know that when you really desire for something, the entire universe conspires to realize your wish. No wonder then, Magazine Marie Claire decided to feature me for a ‘Pretty Me’ contest organized by the cosmetic & fragrance brand Elizabeth Arden. Having sent my pictures a month ago, out of nowhere, I get a call from a sweet Parsi girl Sanaya saying she wants to meet me. And the deal was cracked.

A week later, I had a photoshoot at a studio at Grant Road in Mumbai. Now, I am quite used to the video camera and I know what it takes to be able to convince the viewers but for a still camera, well, you just gotta smile!

WHEN IT RAINS...
Posted: July 3, 2009 16:32 by kamiya

I look outside the window...
I don’t like staying indoor...

I look at the droplets falling down...
I want to see the floor getting drowned...

I look at people going helter-skelter...
While the hawkers are searching for a blue shelter...

I look at kids wearing a rain gear...
And the bikers coming down to second gear...

I look at couples holding hands...
and their feet sinking in the sands...

I look at youngsters munching on wada pav...
That tastes yummier in the rains, I wonder how!

I look at people blocking each other’s way...
and I am trying to pull my umbrella that’s flying away...

Finally, I stop looking
and I start feeling...

Feeling the droplets hitting my face
And smiling back at the Rain Gods for their Grace!

Enjoy the season and do not crib
Even if you fall in the pit!

Keep Smiling and Stay Stylish! ;-)

GUESS WAT-CH!?!
Posted: July 3, 2009 14:36 by kamiya

Rarely do I plan things in life but when I do, I WANT it. I saw a lady wearing a big square shaped dial watch and I was so tempted to go and ask her – Which watch is that? She said, it’s Guess!

I made up my mind - I want that watch! I hunted for that watch for two weeks but I came out dissappointed from each of their store. But the last Guess store I visited, I found this watch.

Swarovski embedded dial, rectangular shaped dial and the metal strap, it was love at first sight! Comes in the evening wear category, can’t wear it to work every day but I love every occasion I get to wear this!

New York - Film Review
Posted: June 30, 2009 15:53 by kamiya

This calls for a celebration:

1. I saw a movie after 4 months!
2. Watching Neil and John together was a treat ;-)
3. To top that, John was nude. Hehe!
4. And of course, got to see the place New York, just for 150 bucks!

So, yes, lots of reasons to like the movie - The actors, the screenplay and thecinematography.

One shot, I clearly remember - Reflection of the helicopter shownon the bonnet of a car. So, yeah, great ideas!

Talking about the storyline, it revolves around terrorism. But the fact that the suspects are treated so inhumanly was shocking to see, that too, without any evidence. And the vengeance leads to more terrorism, once the suspects are rescued. The script was convincing and so was the acting.

John, especially, should get a special mention here.Besides having a sexy butt, he can really pull off a character well. Katrina has looked as pretty as ever and her stand of - standing by her husband/boyfriendis a HIT! After having seen Johnny Gaddar, Neil has proved himself as a great actorbut there was nothing challenging about his role. There is no doubt that he hada crucial role to play in the film.

Agreed that Irfan Khan is not that great looking but he will still be mentioned because of his tongue-in-cheek advice That made the film entertaining. And ofcourse, I am assuming we all know how great he is as an actor! There were bits when I was curious to know ifJohn was really guilty of terrorism and the prolonged suspense lead to boredomat one point but then it finally picked up.

The climax was disheartening. We all are used to happy endings and this onedidn’t have one. But we also want reality, don’t we? I can’t think of a climaxotherwise, so I won’t blame the script writer for this.

To sum it up, it is definitely worth a watch. Whether you walk out angry, content or even ridiculing the director, do watch the film to experience the pain. Fortunately, you don’t have to carry it all your life, like them. Though, nothing justifies terrorism!  But one thing, well said in the film - All wrong decisions are taken at a wrong time!

Unspoken Words By My Papa!
Posted: June 7, 2009 17:35 by kamiya

No preaching, no gyaan! Just one thought – ‘LOVE YOURSELF!’

‘It may sound selfish. But you know what, be selfish! Only if you take care of yourself, you will be able to take care of others. And how can others love you, if youdon’t love yourself!’

‘No sacrifice but a lot of adjustments!’

If you see him, you may think this man really doesn’t worry about anything. And yes, that’s true. He doesn’t! What he really worries about is - his own health, his clothes, his hair – well dyed and he should look younger by the day :-)

We look more at others than our ownselves but he looks more at himself than others. His face is always beaming with a smile. And the first question he asks me every morning is - ‘How old do I look?’ And my answer is always ten years lesser than his original age. And that’s a reason enough for him to celebrate.  He knows he is successful and like every successful man, he likes to hear that.

‘Would you have been happier if you were born to a richer dad?

‘Paa,
you kidding me? You have given memore than I have ever asked for!’

And the smile wouldn’t leave his face for the rest of the day.
He loves to call himself a mechanic. For the smallest thing, from the TV remote control not working to the water tapleaking, he wants to fix it all himself.

He has never told anyone what is right or what is wrong. He understands everyoneis tuned differently and everyone has different fundas. At the end of the day,the most important thing is - you should be happy!

And he has never told me this. I see it everyday. He is always smiling, eventhough there may be a catastrophe in his life. Now that’s how I define strength!

He is not my papa. He is a Kid. A kid who wakes up feeling younger everyday. You may be scared to go bunjee jumping, but he will jump even before he ties the rope for the sport. Without uttering any words, he lives his life like an example for the rest, unintentionally. Wish we all could take life as lightly as he does :-) No wonder, he looks so handsome.

The New and the Old!
Posted: May 5, 2009 14:46 by kamiya

Hasn’t it been 10,000 years since the last time I wrote a post on kamiyajani.com? Feels awesome to be back . I need a subject strong enough to prompt me to write.

We got a new car - Xylo, a couple of days back. It’ exciting to have a new car but that’s not going be the topic of discussion. This evening, my brother called out to me to check out the new music system, the new TV screen and the new number plate that he has embellished the car with.

The last time I saw him like this when he was blessed with a new born baby and before that, it was the new property that he bought. Before that, it was his new office, just before that it was the entry of a new person in his life, his wife. In all these, there is only one thing in common – NEW! Every time he has something new in his life, I see that excitement in him. I looked around only to find out if he was the only one. But no, the world is no different than him.

New things always bring great pleasure to our lives. Be it a new job, new car, new house or a new friend. You begin to forget all the old things, which once gave you the same pleasure as new ones. After sometime, you again forget these new ones as ignored ones, like his old car. He didn’t bother to look there but does that mean he has changed his loyalties? Just to check that, I said, I will take your old car, you take the new one. He said yes because he can’t say no. But he was reluctant. He didn’t want to let go off his possession.  I would have done the same.

But eventually, we mostly let go off them but it pinches to see our old thing to be a new obsession for someone else. Like my old Santro - MH O4 – BD – 5666. If you see her anywhere, give her my love.

New things bring great pleasure and excitement but we still feel possessive for the old ones. This is not just for cars but even for people...  And I wonder why...

I am not Punjabi and I don't intend to be one. But that's no reason that I can't love Sarson da saag and Makai di roti. And if you love what I love, then learn how to make it.

Cooking this with Bhairav Singh, Chef at Nawab sahib, Renaissance, was a lot of fun. By the end, we also danced on Namaste London songs, which is ofcourse edited ;-)

Sarson Da saag, Makai di roti and Aaloo gud ka halwa!

The New Man in My Life
Posted: April 12, 2009 04:49 by kamiya
Ladies and gentlemen, Boys and Girls! Here's introducing the latest hearthrob of the nation - Shivansh Jani!

Chinki eyes, Thin pink lips, chotu chotu nosey and a round face! :-)

Shivansh is the new addition to the family and the family is totally loving it. The youngest son of the family, Krishiv Jani, is not the youngest anymore. He has now become bade bhaiya.

There was too much controversery over his name, which he would like to know when he grows up. But if the stories go unheard, he can always read this blog. Shivansh was called Samay for the first days and later with public demand, his name is changed to what it is now.

I welcome Shivansh with lots of love, warmth and affection and wish only best things come his way.

Mohabbat Aapse...
Posted: March 22, 2009 07:49 by kamiya
I keep my heart away from a lot of things but few things just find a way to get there. 'Mohobbat aapse' touched my heart the first time I heard it. I LOVE it. It's from the film Aa Dekhen Zara. You are right, Neil Nitin Mukesh is also the reason. Hotness personified! Let's not shift focus here. It's the song! Dedicated only to Neil.

Check out the lyrics:

Din chadhe Mujhse pooche Nazar
Kaun tha sapno mein raat bhar
Appka hi tha asar
Abb aap hi ho hum safar
Mohabbat Aapse
Aaquidat aapse

Mohabbat Aapse
Aaquidat aapse

Sharbati nazaron mein aap hai
Makhamali palkon ke paas hain
Aap to ehsaas hain
Aap khoob hai aur khaas hai

Mohabbat Aapse
Aaquidat aapse

Mohabbat Aapse
Aaquidat aapse

Kahin na kahin yeh dil jab aata hain
Ghadi do ghadi to tab samjhata hai
Dilon ka dilon se bhi kuch nata hai
Yeh dil dohrata hain

Mohabbat Aapse
Aaquidat aapse

Mohabbat Aapse
Aaquidat aapse

Dil ruba kehta hai aapko
Dil khuda kehta hai aapko
Har dafa yeh aapko
Kehta wafa hai aaapko
LyricsMasti.com
Mohabbat Aapse
Aaquidat aapse

Mohabbat Aapse
Aaquidat aapse

I love typing lyrics of my favourite songs :-)
