Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi!
clock December 17, 2008 14:20 by author kamiya
They say - I need a smoke!
Others say - I need a drink!
I say - I need a movie!

And this one served the purpose. :-)

Soda glasses, loose shirt, ill-fitted pants and sport shoes. Whoa! Shahrukh has never looked better than this. And I loved him in this film more than any other. He stole my heart. Not the wannabe Shahrukh, the simple one!

There were bits when I felt that the movie is long but I would say the first and last half and hour of the movie is the best.

An average looking man gets married a beautiful girl. You will ask why? Arrey, Rab ne bana di Jodi yaar. And then how he does everything to win her heart. And ultimately he does.

Predictable, isn’t it? But this movie is a joy only because of Shahrukh. I wasn’t a great Shahrukh fan but now I am. I loved it. I would crack up everytime he would say - 'Punjab Power: Lighting up your house' He is working for a company called Punjab Power.

He said in one of his interviews, “Those who understand love, will like this movie. Those who don’t, won’t!” Well for me, I love the idea of being in love than love itself.

A special mention: We all know about the dance competition that happens in the film. But there was another competition between duo – pani puri one. Shahrukh wins the battle. He eats more pani-puri than Anushka. But If I was his competitor, I swear I would have won. Trust me!

(Actually, I chose the wrong time to write this post. I am watching Salaam Namaste at the moment and I love that film equally)

Oright then, Kabhi alvida na kehna. Always say... Hum hain rahi pyaar ke, phir milenge... chalte chalte ;-)

Aaoji Khaoji – Lucky superchor hai!
clock November 30, 2008 14:36 by author kamiya

If you are a Sardar with a good Surdy sense of humour, bindaas attitude, authentic Sardar accent and under 18 years old, please contact me. Under 18 because I generally like Sardars only till that age. I am not being racist. Lot of my friends are Sikh and I love them all. Just that I love Sardar kids more than Sardars themselves :-)

This long story because the first half n hour of the movie was about this under-18-year-old sardar, whose name is Lucky. He always wants things to go his way, no matter what. His cool attitude, accent and acting stole my heart.

The story did not change when he grew up. The older cut-surd Abhay Deol too is just too charming. He is a thief and not a cool thief like Hrithik Roshan from Dhoom but a cheap thief who doesn’t even leave show-peices or chindi photo frames. ;-)

I wouldn’t say the movie made me laugh my guts out but it did bring a smile to my face. I did sense a bit of pain in my jaws by the
end of it. Reason could be Abhay Deol. There is something in him which the other Deol brothers don’t have. It’s got no story line, just a fun-no-brainer-flick with a retro feel.

I know a lot of you need a break from the news channels flashing breaking news after every five minutes. I am not saying forget the incident but be brave, smile and fight. There is nothing that can stop you from going to a mall or a multiplex. This is your country, not anyone else’s!

And BTW, Aaoji Khaoji was the restaurant's name started by Lucky Singh! If I ever open a restaurant, you know what it will be called :-)

Oye Lucky Lucky Oye! Oyeeeeeee Lucky!

A wednesday - For everyone who will be dead, sooner or later!
clock November 27, 2008 14:00 by author kamiya

If you’d ask me, which was your favourite movie in the year 2008? My instant reply would be - A WEDNESDAY!

It’s got no bhashan, no preaching! It’s a mirror of our condition and sadly, nothing can be done. I don’t remember a minute I was distracted. I have never been so much into in a film, or anything else, perhaps!

Naseerudin Shah plans a blast in Mumbai and very bravely he tells the policemen about it. Inspite of them knowing about it, the helplessness is evident. Protecting people is a priority and at the same time, they have to placate the terrorist to stop them from firing/blast and find out the spots.

Crux being, today it is so simple to plan a blast. Naseerudin was no terrorist. He was a common man. If he can do it, if he can plant a bomb in a POLICE STATION, think about the guys who are trained for 20 years just to do this.

It was mind boggling. It had the effect on me for a week. Sadly, yesterday was a wednesday too and the attack continues even today.
And today, again as I see the dead count going up, it doesn’t make me sad. It makes me angry.

Angry because I am not doing anything to make it better. Angry because I do not have the guts to go up to them and shoot them all dead. Angry because they will do this until they are dead! Angry because I will have to wait till I am dead!

A Wednesday – A must watch for each Indian or perhaps everyone who will be dead, sooner or later!

But if you want to do something about it before you or your loved ones die, you can do something about it. Let’s start right away.

Dostana - Not about friendship!
clock November 16, 2008 09:18 by author kamiya

And I thought it was a woman's business to look HOT. I was so wrong. John Abraham has crossed all the limits - He looked HOT! Like siiiiiizzzzzzzling HAWT.

Okay, attention! Lets talk about the movie. Dostana was exactly what I thought it to be. And even then, I wasn’t bored. Though, there were bits when I felt, oh its just about to get over but nope.. it went on. So yes, it was slightly long.

It was funny. Abhishek can act really well as a gay. But John.. He is just too manly to be a gay! As titled, the movie doesn't talk about friendship, it is all about LOVE. Everyone in love with Piggy chops!

Maa da laadla bigad gaya gets the award for the best song.

You must be wondering why I haven't mentioned about the babe - Priyanka Chopra. Well, to confess, jealous!

Arrey, she gets to go for all those fancy dates and that too with THREE different men ;-) What luck! And why not, she is Sindhi in the movie and looks nice :)

Funniest scene – when Abhishek’s mother gets to know about his son’s sexual preference. Followed by a couple of scenes.

Hot bods, good locations, little funny, not too senti, good gay jokes. Dostana is all about that. Worth a watch once. Recommended.

Go ahead and enjoy.

Be Happy and Gay!

EMI - Ticket liya hai toh dekhna padega!
clock November 16, 2008 08:43 by author kamiya

Money is the reason for all the stress! I am not saying this after watching EMI but the same morning when I saw the flick!

I got a text from Barclay Card saying I have been charged seven grands for being a part of priority circle. Huh... What is that? While I was busy at work, these customer care executives had called once.

'Ma'am, a free gift for you.'

'What for?'

'You are a part of priority circle'

'Okay. Whatever that means. Is it for free?'

'Ofcourse Ma'am'

'Alright then. Bring it on'

This is the brief discussion I remember and then I was charged Rs 7,000. Painful, I tell you. Not that I am going to pay. And I don't want those free gifts either.

Yaa. So the movie. Yes, it talks about Loan - Liya hai toh chukana toh padega. Fair enough. But Sanjay Dutt, who is from the recovery agency comes up with an alternative as to lets solve their problems first so that they are able to pay up. Don't know how practical it is. I mean, of course I know. It is not practical at all!

Wish everyone was so considerate. Blah!

But obviously that gave an emotional touch to the movie. Gandhigiri types, you know. First half was boring but the second half was entertaining.

Worth a watch? I guess you can skip this one. Recession time. Save up, guys. ;-)

Rock ON!
clock September 5, 2008 17:21 by author kamiya
With zero excitement, I went to watch this movie. I like Farhan but only for his directorial ventures. I wasn't sure about his acting abilities and neither does he please me as a charming good-looking guy for whom I would die to go to the theatre first day-first show.

It was Sunday and I was offered for this movie. To kill time, I said yes and came back totally smiling. :):):) Yes like this. I loved every bit of it. It kept me interested through out.

The storyline was a typical Farhan's style. Four friends. This time, their passion was not girls or goa, it was rock music. Their band is called Magik. It's about the ups and downs they go through in this journey of making their undersized college band to be known worldwide. Bonding, love, ego clashes, fights, insecurity. They break up and they make up after ten years and how they take off...

Farhan has really done a good job, with long hair as well as short ;-) His beautiful house is a treat to watch. Like it's anyone dream house and his wife's lifestyle gets a special mention. Whatta life! I found Prachi Desai very cute. And Purab Kohli...funny guy!

It's not a one time-watch, infact a two time watch. Watch it atleast once if you haven't done it yet!

Bachna Ae Haseeno, Ranbir is here!
clock August 17, 2008 05:55 by author kamiya
Through out the week, I wait for sunday and when Sunday's here, I don't know what to do? Most people say, sleep! But I don't feel sleepy either.

Blogging is not a bad idea. So, lets talk about Bachna Ae Haseeno. Friday, last show. Few friends saw the paid preview and warned me that I would be wasting my money if I watch the movie. But even then I was tempted.

Glad I was. It's a NICE movie! I don't know why they said that. What else do you expect in 200 bucks. Three actresses, three locations, nice songs and ofcourse - RANBIR KAPOOR. Bachna ae Haseeno, he looks cute.

I don't blame the girls to fall in love with him.  I would too. Even though I would know that he is a casanova.

Its a good masala movie. He flirts around with girls and like most guys is affraid of marraige. Not that girls aren't but when it's Ranbir, who wouldn't want to take a chance. So he would dump them when the 'M' word creeps in. And as expected, he falls in love and wants to get married. The girl says NO. He goes back to his ex-girlfriends to apologize since he realises his mistake.

Yes. The movie is as simple as that. Nothing outstanding but good fun to watch.

I really enjoyed watching it and I am sure, it deserves a one-time watch.

Kismat Konnection Ho Jaaye!
clock July 31, 2008 22:21 by author kamiya

Yes yes. I am a big fan of Shahid Kapoor and everyone who knows me knows that too. I was waiting to see more of him after Jab We Met! I just LOVE him. But that's not the only reason why I liked this flick so much. Or may be, yes :-)

I saw the movie the day it was released and I know I am too late to blog about it, but never mind. I was surprised to read the review by critics next morning. It got only ONE star.. I mean just ONE! It's got everything that our bollywood commercial masala movies have, that too with a tadka.

For people, who believe in destiny, this movie is just dedicated to you. Everything that Shahid did, would fall flat since luck was not in his favor. Though it also says that how much ever hard you work, if luck's not with you, nothing else will support you. Now, I don know how many would agree to that. Vidya Balan was his lucky charm and her mere presence would make a difference.

Haven't come across a concept like this. It did have a novelty value and I really enjoyed watching the movie. Yes, more than Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, which got some 3.5 -4 stars. Strange!

Thumbs up: Shahid Kapoor, his dance, his friend - Vishal Malhotra, Music, Story, Location, ok even Vidya Balan, if only she looked a bit younger.
Thumbs down: Vidya Balan's dance, Shahid Kapoor's red coloured bag ;-)

Jab we met till we meet again
clock October 31, 2007 16:45 by author Kamiya

I walked out of the theatre and said 'I wanna watch this movie again'. This says it all. I loved the movie. 'Cute' is the word I am looking for.

Kareena, for the first time in the history of bollywood has acted. Can you beat that?! She deserves an award not being at her best but for acting to start with.

Kareena, sorry to say, but you have pulled down way too much. I could only see your bones. Where's the flesh? I can't believe Kareena can be funny. Yes, she was! Really funny. I don't think any chick from bollywood has been so funny in recent times. It is always the boys who take the credit for all that slapstick.

Here's some news: Shahid doesnt look like a kid anymore! But he din't even look like a man. Never mind, guess he is in growing stage. But he looked cute too. Nothing new, I have been loving him since his Ishq Vishq days.

Besides good looks, the movie also had some good locations.

I had expected that the movie will be cute since film director, Imitiaz Ali's first film Socha Na tha was also a sweet love story. Not many people went to watch it but those who did, liked it. He did not let me down.

If you like only serious movies, which make sense and give you some lesson to take home. This one is not for you. It is a light hearted movie, which you would enjoy after a stressful day at work.

I would give this movie a four on five. Well, I like such movies. Don't know about you!

Bhool Bhulaiya: Akshay steals the show
clock October 26, 2007 02:27 by author Kamiya

If you are under the impression that this one is a comedy flick like any other Priyadarshini film, you will be as surprised I was. This one is horror! Although, I am glad they did not promote it as one. Because if they did, the box office would have got thumps down!

The first one hour of the movie is very slow and boring until the macho man, Akshay Kumar makes his hot appearance. This guy gets the best actor award. He is so natural and at ease in front of the camera, that you want to slap Shiney Ahuja for his over acting and push him to join Akshay’s acting class. Vidhya Balan was not bad as a banshee.

Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav continue their usual slapstick, which kept the movie light through out. It was good fun although I seriously wish if it was a lot more shuddery. Never mind, it was a decent attempt.

If you plan to watch this one, for the song Hare Ram Hare Ram Hare Krishna Hare Ram, sorry to say guys, this song is not a part of the show. It was all for promotion. But don’t be disheartened, they play this song by the end while the credits are rolling. The crowd did hang around and they didn’t leave the hall until it was over. Plus, now I know, Labon ko is a song from this movie.

Yes, Bhool Bhulaiya is a paisa vasool flick. Go for it!
